Our Carols by Candlelight concert in December was a real Christmas cracker – apart from delivering a sack full of goodies to delight the 320-strong audience (the biggest we’ve ever attracted in the church), donations on the way out raised almost £1,400.
We thrilled our audience with a plate-spinner, a piano solo to welcome our new grand piano on permanent loan to the church, medieval carols, solo of All I Want For Christmas Is You, and the world-premiere of a carol written especially for us by composer Lliam Paterson.
Every penny raised will go towards the £70,000 rewiring and new lighting scheme for St Matthias Church – without which the gorgeous Grade I-listed church (with its magnificent acoustic) could close.
We’re hoping there will be enough money for the work to go ahead this spring. If you loved the concert but didn’t have any cash on you at the time, or you’d still like to make a donation, email us.
We’ll keep you posted with any news on the work.
